FULLY FUNDED PHD SCHOLARSHIP IN HEALTHCARE SIMULATION

PhD Title: “Optimising immersive healthcare simulation via Human Factors principles to enhance learner, faculty, and organisational outcomes”
University: Staffordshire University (Centre for Health Innovation, Stafford)
Duration: Full-time (three years)
Fees: None (as this is included as part of the scholarship)
Stipend: £17,668 per annum

PhD Description: Simulated practice in healthcare provides a safe environment for technical and non-technical skills training and for exploring care systems and processes. However, there are clearly identified research gaps in this emerging field, for example with respect to pedagogy, learning outcomes, and learner experiences such as cybersickness, stress and cognitive overload. This PhD provides the opportunity to develop research and demonstrate how the application of immersive technology can optimise safe, sustainable healthcare.

Supervisors: Principle supervisor is Dr Al Ross (C.Erg.HF, C.Psychol, FHEA), Associate Professor in Human Factors at the University of Staffordshire.
Co-supervisors: Dr. Kim Leighton (PhD, MSN, CHSE-A, CHSOS, ANEF, FSSH, FAAN), Executive Director of Itqan Clinical Simulation & Innovation Center in Doha, Qatar and Dr. Cathleen Deckers (RN, EdD, CNE, CHSE), Associate Professor and Simulation Center Lead at California State University, Long Beach in California, America.
